NxNW6 film listings July 6-12

Time again for the weekly West Hampstead film round-up brought to you by Mark - the Keanu Reeves of NW6 (tweeting at @NxNW6).

Film Listings for July 6-12

The summer film season is fast approaching and the cinemas are filling up with holiday fare. Elsewhere we have the final few days of the Kilburn Film Festival, a new film from Steven Soderburgh and the Wimbledon men’s tennis final in 3D.

Film of the Week

You've Been Trumped (2001, documentary, 95 mins)
Everyman Hampstead, Sat 12:25, Sun 15:55)
A group of proud Scottish homeowners take on celebrity tycoon and all round berk Donald Trump as he buys up one of Scotland's last wilderness areas to build a golf resort. Only twoscreenings over the week, but this looks great.

One-off screenings

Wimbledon Men’s Tennis Final 3D Swiss Cottage Odeon Sun 13:45 £15.
Love Hate Love (2011, documentary) Everyman Belsize Park Mon 18:30.
Documentary about how terrorism affects lives in different ways.
Everyman Hampstead is bringing all of Wagner’s Ring Cycle to the cinema this summer. It's showing two more parts this weekend. Tickets start at £30.

Gotterdammerung - Sun 12:15.

Check out the full listings and dedicated Kilburn Film Festival website, but three events over the final weekend of the festival caught the eye.
  • The Young Victoria, St Mary’s Church Abbey Rd, Fri 20:00, £5 (music from 19:30).
  • The Mirror Boy, The Tricycle Theatre, Sat 15:45, £8.50. Well regarded Nigerian film, very much in the Nollywood tradition.
  • Tim Robinson: Connemara + Q&A with Director Pat Collins, The Tricycle Theatre, Sun from 15:30 £8.50
An exploration of landscape, history and mythology, and the intersection between writing, filmmaking, and the natural world, followed by Cricklewood Craic a short film by Andrew Berekdar about four retired Irish construction workers who migrated to North West London in the 1950s looking for work.
