One-off screenings
The Everyman Hampstead is starting a film club on the final Sunday of every month. The idea is to show classics at a reasonable price (£10). Films scheduled to be screened include The Birds and The Apartment. It all starts this Sunday.
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972, surrealist, 102 mins)
Everyman Hampstead 13:45 Sun 26.
Luis Buñuel's surrealist classic recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The plot centres around six middle-class people and their consistently interrupted attempts to have a meal together. Recommended if you have never seen it. In my opinion, one of the funniest films ever made.
The Imposter + Q&A
Two locally scheduled screenings + Q&A with the creators of the film of the week.
Everyman Hampstead Tue 28 18:10
Maida Vale Thu 30 18:05
Price TBC.

Special mention to the local Vue for going the extra mile. It is showing an incredible 17 different films over the next 7 days. Not bad for a cinema that has 8 screens. In comparison the Odeon has 6 films spread over its 5 screens.

The Watch* (2012, comedy sci-fi, 102 mins - from Mon 27)
Ensemble comedy with Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Richard ‘IT Crowd’ Ayoade. Critically panned in the US, the signs are not good.

I'll have to take a look at Discrete Charm..currently spinning Belle de Jour in BD
ReplyDeleteIt's very unusual Eugene, but excellent if you go with it. A lot more unorthodox than 67's Belle de Jour. Surreal with a capital S.
