Film Listings for Aug 31-Sep 6
The quiet before the September storm this week. However there are two intriguing new films and an one off screening that could capture your imagination.
Film of the Week
Berberian Sound Studio* (2012, horror, tbc mins)
Toby Jones (Tinker, Tailor; Hunger Games) takes the opportunity of a rare starring role in a film about the sound of horror. The film explores what happens when a sound engineer's work for an Italian horror studio becomes a terrifying case of life imitating art. The film is set against the backdrop of those amazing 70s Italian giallo horror classics (Suspiria etc).
Everyman Hampstead Fri-Sat 15:30, 18:00, 20:35, Sun 15:00, 17:35, 20:00 Mon-Tue 15:30, 18:00 Wed 15:10, 17:35 Thu 15:45, 18:00.

One-off screenings
Shut up and Play the Hits (2012, documentary, 150 mins)

Ok, this is one of the oddest listings of recent time. If you’re a big fan of Fatboy Slim and want to spend your Friday night partying like it’s 2002 (but in a cinema) then this is the screening for you.

The Possession* (2012, horror, 92 mins)
One of those US horror films that are becoming increasingly common. This one involves a young girl buying an antique box at a yard sale. Produced by Sam Raimi which gives it a chance of rising above the usual dross.
Total Recall* (2012, sci-fi 118 mins, Xtreme + std)
Or ‘Total Remake’ if you’re using the unofficial title. The final proper blockbuster of the season could go either way. If Colin Farell attempts to say ‘consider this a divorce’ – there will be at least one unhappy customer.
