Film Listings for Oct 12-18
This week’s round up includes the new film from local lad Tim Burton, the adaptation of a classic novel and news of an Oscar winner in town.
Film of the Week
On the Road* (2012, drama, 124 mins)
Adapation of the classic Jack Kerouac novel from Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries) starring Kristen Stewart and Viggo Mortensen. Notoriously difficult to put on film, the early word is that Walter may just have managed it. Great to see it getting such a wide release as well.
Showing from Fri at The Tricycle Cinema, Everyman Maida Vale, Everyman Belsize Park, Finchley Road Vue and the Swiss Cottage Odeon.

Finchley Road Vue
Frankenweenie 3D* (2012, animation horror, 87 mins).
Tim Burton project that was originally made 25 years ago as a Disney short but never released. Frankenweenie concerns a science experiment that brings a dog back to life but, as ever with Tim Burton, there are monstrous consequences. A 2D version will be released from October 18th to play alongside the 3D version. Bit cynical.
Ruby Sparks* (2012, romantic comedy, 104 mins)
The makers of 'Little Miss Sunshine' return with an odd fantasy film about a novelist with writers block who creates a woman into existence. Surely just a poor man's 'Weird Science'? With Paul Dano, Annette Bening and Antonio Banderas.
Pusher* (2012, crime thriller, 89 mins)
Unnecessary British remake of Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn’s first film from 1996. You would be better off hunting down the Danish original on DVD.

Dracula animated film for the half-term with Adam Sandler.
